Over the past 5 years the role of the leader in business has changed. Previously a leader could continue for as long as the bottom-line targets were being met. However, as the economy declined and bottom-line targets were no longer being met, so the focus on leaders intensified. Leaders are now held accountable not only for those bottom-line results but for every single contribution they make to the business. They must be able to think strategically, plan for the future and inspire and lead their teams to success.
However, balancing strategic planning and business execution is easier said than done. Being able to effectively craft, communicate, then execute a winning strategy, is a core competence that can determine who will win and who will lose. Leaders who get this right create willing followers; people who want to be part of the journey because they understand and are excited by the destination.
Our Business Coaches will work with the leader using our strategic planning process to help them inspire a shared vision and provide clarity to their team. We are often better able to challenge the leader’s assumptions, present alternative options and play devil’s advocate – more so than the leader’s colleagues and subordinates can. This helps leaders to better think through the implications and communication of their strategic decisions.
Many leaders state they hugely benefit from having an external, objective third party they can confide in – someone who will push and guide them, as well as deliver incisive analysis and brutally honest feedback. This allows the leader to be at their best with the team.
Mindstrong’s Leadership Coaching is structured so as to fit in with the leader’s everyday responsibilities. It is typically a 6-12 month process, usually carried out in 2-hour sessions.
As with our Executive Coaching, how the sessions are conducted, (face to face, telephone, skype etc) will be determined by the client’s specific requirements, however we do recommend that, where possible, at least the first session is completed face to face. This helps to build rapport and trust, essential for any successful coaching relationship.
Also, as with our Executive Coaching, clients have the additional option of incorporating a 360° questionnaire. This invaluable tool offers additional opportunities for self-awareness and reflection. Please see our section on Leadership 360° for further information.
Mindstrong’s Leadership Coaching is a bespoke solution, tailored to address the specific requirements of the individual within their organisation. This form of coaching commonly addresses;
